Anti-Soiling Coatings
The real world is a messy, dirty place, but not all dirt is the same! We understand that anti-soilng means entirely different things in the desert or in the city or in the tropics. Pellucere offers a full-range of passive and active anti-soiling technologies to meet a wide variety of needs. Many of our anti-soiling technologies are incorporated into other coating systems to create a blend of properties – like anti-reflective plus anti-coiling – to better meet customer needs.
Anti-Soiling Mechanisms
- Hydrophobic - technology that repels water from the surface causing it to bead and roll easily to away from the coating to minimize contaminants left behind when the water dries.
- Hydrophilic - causes water to rapidly spread out onto the surface and create a thin, transparent layer. The nano-scale surface structure of the hydrophilic coatings reduces the Van der Waals forces, or adhesion forces, causing dust and dirt to fall off, especially in low-humidity environments.
- Photo-Active - Uses a light-sensitive catalyst to break the molecular bonds of soil adhering to the surface. Photo-active anti-soiling systems are especially effective on many types of organic soils.
